Mr. Pavel is a percussionist, music educator, and arts administrator currently based in Wisconsin. Mr. Pavel graduated cum laude with a BFA in Percussion Performance from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM) in 2016 and recently graduated with a MM in Percussion Performance from San Diego State University (SDSU) where Mr. Pavel served as Percussion Coordinator for the SDSU Percussion Department.
As a performer, Mr. Pavel has performed with a wide variety of groups. He has performed as a soloist with the UWM Percussion Ensemble, SDSU Percussion Ensemble, and as a guest marimba soloist on a UWM Symphonic Band concert. Mr. Pavel has performed with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Rockford Symphony Orchestra, Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra, Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra, San Luis Obispo Master Chorale, San Diego City Ballet, the Pacific Conservatory Theatre, and more. Notable performances include performing with the UWM Wind Ensemble at the World Association of Symphonic Bands (WASBE) in San Jose, CA in July 2015 and performing in the San Diego Symphony's border park performance of "Inuksuit" in 2018 whiched receieved national acclaim in The New Yorker.
As an educator, Mr. Pavel has taught a wide variety of groups. Mr. Pavel acted as a coach for the UWM Middle School Honors Band, coached the San Diego Summer Music Institute, and subbed as a coach for the UWM Youth Wind Ensemble. While at SDSU, Mr. Pavel conducted the SDSU Percussion Ensemble. Currently, Mr. Pavel teaches his own private lesson studio.
In addition to performing and teaching, Mr. Pavel acted as a Student Artist in Residence through the Creative Trust of Milwaukee which gave him the opportunity to perform and give masterclasses at local hospitals.
Mr. Pavel’s principal teachers include Greg Cohen, Thomas Wetzel, Carl Storniolo, and Dean Borghesani.
